Happy Black History Month, Again

Posted by livininsanity on February 2, 2011

I’d say Happy Groundhog Day, but it just doesn’t feel right stealing Black History’s thunder on just the second day of the month. But, now that I’ve said Happy Black History Month, Happy Groundhog Day. P. Phil – the groundhog – looked around and based on the direction he gazed, in correlation with the location of the sun and his body, it has been determined that we will have an early spring.

An early spring. I guess that means March won’t have the record cold weather that December was known for? If spring comes early, does that mean the shorter winter will be harsher? I mean, I merely happened to be paying a bit of attention to the entire country gettting hit by an avalanche of snow and ice the past 24 hours.

I won’t even begin to discuss the validity of the notion of an early spring. I’ll continue to assume spring will happily roll along in March. However, should I take cover for the next month as we have another ice age? If you have any thoughts on P. Phil and the superstitions surrounding Groundhog Day, feel free to leave a comment explaining your stance. Although, I’d totally understand if you think it’s a waste of your time. :P

Hi.

Posted by livininsanity on April 1, 2009

This is not “Livininsanity.” I’m sorry, I can’t even think straight. Okay, I’m the sister of “Livin” or “Livininsanity” – didn’t even know this alter-ego existed, until very recently. Okay, I am Sara. Hi.

It’s strange seeing this writer side that I was never involved in. I’m sorry. I never read these things before. I’m crying. Sorry. Like, I just read this article:

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/954737/how_to_make_money_while_duping_kids.html

It is funny and published and on the web and I never read it. I never knew about it. Why is that? Who’s Margeaux? Nevermind. There’s just so much information. It’s like an avalanche.
I’m sorry, I mean to share something. Bad news. But, I thinnk I’m realizing the worse news. Livin or Livininsanity and I were strangers. Strangers. Same family. Strangers. And I learn this after the fact. Yes. I’m sorry. You may have wondered what happened.
Oh, this is strange. I’ve been clicking around again. It’s just, some of these posts, they talk about blogs not lasting and then this…
Wow. Worlds to explore. Sorry. I wish I could hug you all. What else do you say? Livin’s dead.
And I’m just staring at those words. There’s something poetic there.
I have questions. What was this computer side like? I’ll check back here in a few days.
Sara (Sister of Livininsanity)

Quotes Taken Out of Context…

Posted by livininsanity on September 14, 2008

Because they’re funnier that way.  Or more interesting.  Or, often, racey. :)

Brought to you by the makers of Fruitios – They’re like Fruit Loops and Cheerios, only a complete rip off.

In this blog post, Colby said, “Side note: Thanks to MJ for turning me on“  I’ll let your imagination figure out the rest.

In real life (sorry, I lost my link to that) LIVIN said, “I accidentallly ate raw chicken” after accidentally eating raw chicken.  By the way, such an action, apparently, freaks LIVIN out.  This one isn’t really out of context, but strange nonetheless.

In this blog post, MJ said, “I hope my hatred for you burns a hole in the back of your head.”  And, to be perfectly honest, this was not taken out of context, really.  So, I suggest not to piss her off. :)

What do farm animals, laxatives, alcohol and nudity have in common?

Good question.  There’s only one way to find out.

Who’s Not Crazy Enough

Posted by livininsanity on June 23, 2008

Seventeen or eighteen high school girls from Gloucester, Massachussetts, made a pact to get pregnant… and followed through. Some blame the school that has its’ own daycare, but I digress…

I do not condone such behaviour, but not because it’s crazy, rather, because it’s not crazy enough.

These girls got a couple things right. Or, at least one – strength in numbers. There’s also loyalty, following through on their word and conviction. Some good traits, I’d say. However, the method of application was just not crazy enough. I mean, anyone can have a kid. Heck, one of the girls, reportedly, was impregnated by a homeless man. That’s the type of thinking outside of the box that impresses me about this stunt.

Overall, I think their energy could have been diverted to crazier ends and, therefore, produced better results. Maybe they could have started their own strip club – they sure had enough girls for it. I guess that wouldn’t be allowed because they’re underage, but that’s the type of crazy these girls should have embraced. At least, they wouldn’t be chained down by a gaggle of kids, following thier pregnancy pact.

Attack of Fried Red UV Rays

Posted by livininsanity on June 16, 2008

I remember when I was a youngster (okay, not really, but I can pretend I remember those days long ago) and I would frolick in the sun like… well, a kid that frolicked in the sun most everyday and, therefore, never got burned by the sun and never needed sun tan lotion, because my body was so accustomed to being out in the sun. The problem is, I suppose, as an adult, that I remember THAT aspect of being a child. I remember not needing sun tan lotion because my skin was nearly impervious to the harmful rays of the sun. By being out in the sun so often, I’d grown a shield to those ever-powerful UV rays. This is no longer the case, but my childhood habits, in this regard, remain.

Somehow, I think I don’t need suntan lotion or I don’t think I need as much as I actually do. The thing is, no adult can be out in the sun as often as they were as a child. It’s just not possible, unless you’re a full time lifeguard or something or work on television show Baywatch with David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson as they go running by in their red bikinis clad to their… (I mean… where was I)…

The sun creates UV rays and they darken our skin, but if you’re not used to constant sun exposure, then your skin will burn. It is a fact. Sadly, it is a fact I have yet to learn. No, I didn’t burn, but I came close. Too close. I thought I was inpenetrable to the sun’s rays. I was wrong. Although I’ve been frolicking in the sun a fair amount lately, not my entire body has been exposed to that sun. So, the other day, when more of my body was exposed, I failed to realize I cannot rely on the ways I relied upon as a child, when I was invincible. It’s sad. To think, I’m no longer invincible. Ah, to grow up… what a sad story indeed – to lose all my superpowers, like mind-reading. Whatever will I do? And, what have you all done?

Tomato Salmonella Map of Outbreak

Posted by livininsanity on June 12, 2008

Tomato Salmonella Outbreak Affected States

The tomato salmonella strain known as Saintpaul (ironic, anyone?) has increased its’ reach to 23 states, from the previously reported 17 states. The latest affected are those colored olive green, including Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Tennessee, New York and Vermont. With 23 states affected, all spread throughout the United States, the impact is far reaching. I could easily see this epidemic expanding further, considering its’ reach thus far.

So far, Salmonella Saintpaul has been responsible for at least 228 illnesses, 25 hospitalizations and involved in one death (although the 67 year old man already had cancer). Without having isolated the source, there may still be contaminated tomatoes circulating through the markets, so it is best to stay away from tomatoes for now… unless you like getting sick… and potentially hospitalized.
