Barack Obama and Joe Biden

Posted by livininsanity on August 23, 2008

That’s the Democratic Presidential and Vice Presidential ticket.  It’s all good, great, fine and dandy that Barack Obama chose Joe Biden from Scranton, Pennsylvania as his running mate, however there is one concern I have.  What am I supposed to do with my beloved slogan “White Guys Are Old!”???  I mean, it made sense when it was Barack Obama versus the elder John McCain.  But, Joe Biden’s kind of old (65 years).  Granted, he’s not as old as John McCain, but who is?  McCain will be 72 years old in a few days.  John McCain is expected to die in the next eight years, according to the CIA World Factbook.

So, I guess the slogan “White Guys Are Old!” is still appropriate.  I don’t know why I ever breifly thought otherwise.  Seriously.  (Shout out!)  Also, people are going to have more trouble questiong the experience of the Democratic ticket, not that it should have been an issue – experience ruining things doesn’t count for much in my book.

George Bush vs Ben Bernanke

Posted by livininsanity on July 17, 2008

On July 15th, 2008, George Bush and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke each held separate press conferences, of a sort.

On the Economy:

Bush: “Basically sound.”

Bernanke: “The economy continues to face numerous difficulties.”

Bush: “Our economy has continued growing.”

Bernanke: “Rapid increases in the price of energy and other commodities.”

Bush: “Consumers are spending, businesses are investing.”

Bernanke: “Economic activity has advanced at a sluggish pace.”

Bush: “American productivity remains strong.”

Bernanke: “Ongoing strains in financial markets, declining house prices, a softening labor market.”

Bush: “You’re protected by the federal government.”

Bernanke: “Have boosted inflation.”

Bush spent much of his time lambasting Congress.  Yes, I lambast them too, for giving Bush any power in the first place.  And the people, for voting him into office.

P.S.  Gasoline was $1.48 a gallon when President George Bush took office in 2001.

Federal Rate Cuts Plateau at 2.00%

Posted by livininsanity on June 26, 2008

After continually falling from 5.25% in September of last year, the Federal Reserve finally seems to be content with the status of the current 2.00% interest rate.  The non-cut was expected, so it comes as no surprise.

“Experts” believe the federal reserve and Ben Bernanke will not make any changes through the rest of 2008.  They expect the earliest changes to occur in early 2009.  However, we seem to be living in a volatile time with regard to oil and gas prices, war in Iraq, inconsistent blog traffic, silly Presidential characters, script critiquers that suggest dumbing down a script, recessions and other shenanigans.  So, it may be hard to predict the future of what Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke will do.

Afterall, a script critiquer recently wrote “I don’t mean to ‘dumb’ it down entirely.”  Oh, thank the Lord. (Not that I believe in a Lord per se, but it’s the best saying I could think of that fits the most.)  Although, there is that Lord named Bush, who loves him some Texas Tea – black gold that is… y’all come back now, here.  It’s a good thing entirely dumbing it down was not the intent – although it may have been the outcome in the mold of some Presidents, er, yes, I can’t wait until January 2009.  Maybe by then, I’ll have forgotten about the critiquer who suggested dumbing down the script, in some form, if not entirely.

Fedcut OUT!

The New Manhattan Project and Perot Charts

Posted by livininsanity on June 20, 2008

There’s good news on the horizon… in the form of The New Manhattan Project. YAY! The two main goals: U.S. 50% energy dependant in ten years; U.S. 100% energy dependant in 20 years. Yay, congress. Something I can get excited about.

Also, Ross Perot is back in the news and making his inaugural appearance on my blog. Former United States’ Presidential Candidate billionaire Ross Perot wants you to be aware of the growing national debt – now over $9,300,000,000,000! (There is no mistake in that number.) That’s over $9.3 Trillion.

To that end, Ross Perot has reverted to what he, apparently, knows best… Perot Charts! You know those pie charts and bar graphs you saw back in 1992 when he garnered nearly 20% of the Presidential election votes? Well, he’s back. Not to run for President, but to show you some more charts.

There Has Been a Disturbance in the Force…

Posted by livininsanity on June 5, 2008

… And it was sparked by my last political post (That one \/ down there).  Following the post below, someone commented almost immediately (and it included a link to the person’s blog).  First, let me say, I’m not so much a fan of links posted in comments.  Afterall, if done properly, your name can act as your link to your blog, and that’s fine.  As far as I’m concerned, (so far) anything else is extraneous.  Unless there’s a point (beyond self promotion) and this isn’t your first comment on my blog.  That said, one comment with one link isn’t a huge deal, but it’s reminiscient of forum posters who have one post and it includes a link – if not spam, it might as well be.

Anyway, I went to the person’s blog and commented.  I made what I thought was a pretty pertinent point.  I’m tired of the media (and the person’s blog) harping on every little mistake, etc…  I pointed out I thought it was nitpicking and to offer a comparison (beyond two solid points of evidence I offered) I pointed out that the person’s blog had some grammatical errors, if one wanted to be a nitpicker.  My point – why nitpick… we all make mistakes.  Subseqeuntly, my comment got deleted.

Apparently, this blogger does not allow discussion on his/her blog.  So, I removed the link included in the comment on my blog.   Subsequently, the blogger posted another comment on my blog (with link) about my removal of the link.  (Note, at the time, I had only removed the link and not the comment.)  Also, note the hypocrisy from the blogger who deleted my entire comment (although at least two thirds of it was highly suitable).  The blogger has since been classified as SPAM.  It is what it is.

I tried to allow discussion, but I failed.  There has been a disturbance in the force… I suppose politics is a heated topic.

Shaking My Head

Posted by livininsanity on June 4, 2008

Barack Obama is the Democratic Presidential Nominee, but Hillary Clinton is still… running?… for… something? …. I’m baffled and speechless, but apparently, her fervent supporters think there is something to run for.  Umm… can someone enlighten me?  Please.

I understand Barack Obama made history as the first minority Democratic Presidential Nominee, so… is HC trying to steal his thunder?  Is she a diversion of some sort?  Is she crazy?  Are her adamant supporters crazier?  I honestly don’t know.

Perhaps the tornadoes have gone to people’s heads, after all, nationally, this is the deadliest tornado season… times two.  Storms are ravaging places – I myself witnessed many, many fallen trees today and saw more non-working traffic llights today than working ones.  I don’t know if there is a correlation, but I have no other explanations.  So, please, enlighten me.

According to my Horoscope…

Posted by livininsanity on June 3, 2008

I’m doing something really productive, I’m just not aware of it at the moment.  Nice!  If only all of life were so simple.  Actually, maybe it is and I’m just not aware of it. :)

Now, on to the news of the day:  Hillary Clinton won 68% of the vote in Puerto Rico, while Barack Obama only garnered 32%.  Puerto Rico?  Are you serious?  Hillary Clinton?

I’ve made a point of not consuming any media regarding the subject matter, so I can report about this without being biased.  I want to be unfiltered so that I can present a totally original (an perhaps uneducated) viewpoint on the democratic nominee election.

Is Puerto Rico filled with old women?  Has something changed that I’m not aware of?  Oh, wait a minute, I think the culprit here might be Bill Clinton – all those hot Puerto Rican mamis want their shot with Bill in the oval office.  It’s the only solution I can feasibly derive at.  Well, that or the chicanos (I hope that’s close enough to a slang term for male Puerto Ricans) think adultery runs in the family.  But, Hillary Clinton?  Well, there is Chelsea.  Maybe, this is more of a long term strategy – waiting for the day Chelsea can take office.

Now, if only these Presidential type families had more children, we could return to the days of keeping one family in power forever.  Ah, nostalgia.  Just what we need – a return to yesteryear.

On the other hand, perhaps Hillary Clinton’s doing something productive and I’m just not aware of it.  I wish.
