Good News for the Blog

This blog was born on or around April 2nd, 2008.  In that time, holimonths have been co-created (although Colby’s really the creator – I merely suggested to turn this from a day to a month… to do the cause justice and give it the time it deserves) and promoted, smartass comments have been left (and missed when not smartass enough) and much spam has been deleted (although it all seems to be about insurance or gambling).  And, today, someone found my blog by searching for “hot puerto rican mamis.”  I don’t recall ever blogging about Puerto Rico or posting about hot mamis (maybe I should), but I digress…

Today marks the last day of July.  This blog is almost four months old.  In that time, it has learned to, well, it’s learned to sit there and do absolutely nothing.  However, visitors, like you, yes you, and you and you and you… find comfort (apparently) in knowing my blog won’t move.  I think my blog is boring for not going for a walk once in awhile, but, hey, that’s just me.  I suppose I’m being impatient with my baby blog, though.

Anyway, congratulations are in order.  My blog had more visitors in July than any previous month.  That’s a good trend.  And I have all you to thank.  So, thank you.  Graphically speaking, the trend looks something like this:

A line going from the left to the right, increasing as it goes.  Can’t you picture it?  I know what you’re thinking – you’d be able to picture it better if I actually included a picture.  Well, consider this a lesson – from my blog to you (as a thank you) – in picturing graphical representations without visual aids.  Anyway, keep up the good work, y’all.

When I Was Young…

In the vein of better blogging…

When I was young, I had little dots (freckles? not so much) on my arm and thought they were passed down from my mother from her abusing heroine (shooting it up).  In other words, I thought the little dots were traces of where heroine had been injected, passed down from generation to generation.  I remember thinking that in middle school.

Livininsanity Righting Irreverence?

The past few days, I didn’t have much to blog about – or so I thought.  However, after a trip to blogerapy (that’s blog therapy), I realized the problem was that I was not living up to my self-bestowed titles “Righting Irreverence” and livininsanity.  (Yes, I just posted a link to my blog on my own blog – I think clicking it creates a disrupption in the space/time continuum, forcing your computer to reset to the year 1900… or at least creates a disturbance in the force.)

In short – I have not been blogoriffic lately.  I have not sunk my claws into the dark underbelly that is livininsanity.  (Talent – see below, I even created a tag.)  I have not said the important items that everybody needs to know… and can learn from.  So without further ado, let’s get this party re-started:

When I find myself behaving like my parents it freaks me out!  This encompasses all possible behaviours.  It could be a habit one of them has.  It could be saying the same thing at the exact same time.  Noticing a similar pet peeve.  It doesn’t matter.  Anything.  It could be a mundane activity.  “You drove to the gas station today?  Oh shit, so did I!”  Seriously, I’m not joking, although the gas station story is merely an example.  Purchasing the same food qualifies.  Eating with similar styels – spaghetti with chopsticks – qualifies.  I have trouble thinking of something that does not qualify.  It all qualifies.  So, I suppose I’m freaked out a fair amount.

Cheating News / Favre From Over

Tim Donaghy was, today, sentenced to 15 months in jail for his involvement in betting on and fixing NBA basketball games.  The fixing referee would have recieved a longer sentence, but it was alleviated due to snitching on others – apparently, it pays to be a rat.  Good riddance, Tim Donaghy.

In other news, the Brett Favre saga continues while the Packers attend training camp, sans Brett Favre.  As far as extended, overmediated sagas go, I have to admit, I don’t mind the Brett Favre saga.  The latest news – the saga continues.  Yes, that is news… just ask any sports media information station.

While we’re waiting on Favre and friends, I’ll recap – Favre retired, Favre said he itched, Media howled, GM Ted Thompson and Brett Favre were between lambeau field and a hard place, Brett said he’d attend training camp, (which began this week for Green Bay), Ted Thompson asked him not to, the eyes of NFC North foes shifted back and forth, Brett signed his reinstatement letter… but he has NOT sent it in!  Seriously, who cares if you sign a paper but don’t send it in?  Anyway, Favre is, supposedly, expected to show up to training camp on Wednesday – my prognosis: it will not happen.  You need to submit a reinstatement letter before attending training camp.  The math does not work.

Today Was a Successful Writing Day

What?  Saturday?  Writing?  Work?  What me thinking?  That’s the way I roll… I can write whatever day I please.  I actually took Friday off from writing (because I felt like it).  So, I rocked it out today.

Note to self: I like rocking it out.  Progress is good.  I gotta pee.  (Seriously, I just went to the bathroom in the middle of this post.  TMI?  Who cares.  Live with it!)

If anyone visits MJ’s blog today (she’s in the middle of a blogathon), they may wonder how I got any work done, since I posted about a million comments, but that’s how I roll.  I started the day with an elongated visit to MJ’s blog, built up steam and hit the ground running when I finally started writing.  My return visits also provided an extra boost to my writerliness, culminating in the successful day that I had.

Brother O’Dell, Pass the Biscuits, Pappy O’Daniels

“Brother O’Dell, Pass the Bisuits, Pappy O’Daniels” is the new nickname of Washington Redskin cornerback Fred Smoot.  Yes, you read that right – his nickname is seven words long… and contains two commas.  As far as nicknames go it’s, well, the longest nickname of any professional football player I’ve ever heard.  Beyond that, I love it.

Of course, this isn’t Fred Smoot’s first nickname.  Last year, he was nicknamed “Johann Cavalli.”

Previously, there was “Sugar Ray Valentino” -  from Fred Smoot’s first stint with the Redskins from 2001 – 2004.  When he was in Minnessota with the Vikings, he earned the nickname “Love Boat Smoot,” from a questionable incident.  Of course, the Washington Redskins official site lists his nickname as “Show Time” on Fred Smoot’s profile page.

Anyway, I like “Brother O’Dell, Pass the Bisuits, Pappy O’Daniels” and I suppose so does Fred Smoot – for now.

A New Clickable Button

If  you’re an avid blog reader of livininsanity (I know it’s an oxymoron, but nonetheless…), you’ll notice there is a new button / clickable item along the top of this blog – 100 Word Horror.  I am not a horror writer by trade, or by any other practicality.  To be perfectly honest, I think there is only one horror piece I’ve ever written in my entire life.  And, it’s now accessible on this blog.

For those that already tried to click the link, you’ve noticed that it is password protected.  But first, a little intro to the piece.  There was one requirement (I think, at least one requirement that I followed) – it had to be exactly 100 words, including the title.  So, it is.  Feel free to count.  Also, the genre obviously had to be horror.  So, I guess that’s two requirements, but whatever.  Anyway, the password is horror.  Enjoy.

Note to Readers: My intention was to categorize and tag all password containing posts with the word “passwords.”  Unfortunately, “Passwords” only currently displays under “Tags” and not “Categories” (on the right, probably because 2 entries does  not qualify).  So, as a reminder, the password to the Musical Nightmare link is nightmare.  Also, notice how easy I’m making these passwords, so you may just be able to guess, but you can always use the search function to search “password.”
